Ferrous Scrap

Scrap metal is classified as either ferrous or non-ferrous scrap.

Ferrous metals include steel (Heavy melting steel), cast iron, or any alloys of iron with other metals (such as stainless steel).

Ferrous metals are favored for their tensile strength and durability, so are often utilized in housing construction, large-scale piping, and industrial containers.

Our business focuses on Ferrous Products like HMS (Heavy Melting Steel) and Cast Iron. Generally, Ferrous metals are less costly than non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals are used because of desirable shapes such as plates, beams, columns, channels; Ferrous metals may also include scrap machinery or implements or certain metal stampings weight, low conductivity (e.g. Copper), non-magnetic property or resistance to corrosion (e.g.
Zinc).

Non-Ferrous Scrap

Non-ferrous metals are alloys or metals that do not contain any appreciable amounts of iron. All pure metals are non-ferrous elements.

Non-ferrous metals tend to be more expensive than ferrous metals but are used for their desirable properties, including light weight (aluminium), high conductivity (copper), non magnetic properties or resistance to corrosion (zinc).

Non-ferrous metals include aluminium, copper, lead, nickel, tin, titanium and zinc, as well as copper alloys like brass and bronze.

The difference between ferrous and non-ferrous metals is that ferrous metals contain iron. Ferrous metals, such as cast irons or carbon steel, have a high carbon content, which generally makes them vulnerable to rust when exposed to moisture.
